Slacking off

Well I am ashamed to say that the past two nights were not productive in the P90x area! I failed to push play for the StretchX and for the Yoga last night... but tonight is Core and I will not miss that one! I just couldn't help myself the past two nights... the Olympics were on and the hockey games were so worth watching! Forgive me but I made the choice and I will live with the consequences.

OK, as for the program I am on day 28 - tomorrow is a full rest day and then on Sunday we start phase 2. I am a little embarrased to admit that we took our 30 day photos and I doubt that I am ready to share them right now. I know that it takes time to make drastic changes BUT I felt that the pictures would have shown more drastic changes. Don't get me wrong... there are changes but they are more subtle that I would have liked to see. In the end the first 30 days I lost the following:

Weight: 10 pounds
Chest: 2 inches
Waist: 2 inches
Hips: 2 inches
Thigh: 1 inch (each)
Arms: 1 inch (each)

For a total of 10 inches lost in one month! That is why I thought that you would really SEE a difference in the photos... :(

Anyway, we are heading out for our holiday tonight. We are taking our weights and our DVDs with us and we are going to keep it going... we are not stopping now!

CardioX and weigh in morning...

Well, I had a bit of a disappointment this morning when I weighed in and saw the scale move just 0.1KG... all that sweating this week and not to see it on the scale was a hurtful reality for me! I am going to be taking the pictures on Friday and I am certain that there has been a change - there has to be! 10 pounds... I just have to remind myself that I have LOST 10 pounds to date on this program and that I WILL see it in the pics.

I am feeling a bit deflated this morning but not defeated... I will BRING IT tonight, for sure!

YogaX and Core again

I am back from the abiss... got home at 7pm on Saturday and after I played with the children until they fell asleep and then I got right into the YogaX. I was so happy with how far I pushed myself and how much my balance is already... I can't wait to see how much I improve in 90 days!

Then last night I did the Core workout although I hardly had enough energy to get dressed yesterday. I think that all the work travel is catching up with me. That being said, I pushed play anyway and I BROUGHT IT! Tonight is kenpo (I think)... I love the Kenpo workout - it is fast and insane (and my girls love it too because they think that they can practive their Karate on me now:)

Kenpo X

Well my hubby and I finished off the week with KenpoX and WHAT A WORKOUT! I am kicking higher and punching harder... maybe too hard because I have a flare up right elbow and I am suffering right now. But on Wednesday night I felt GREAT! So here we are beginning the recovery week. Tonight is CardioX and although I am at a hotel because I am traveling for work I am still doing it tonight. I can hardly believe that I only have one more week to shed some more GOO before those 30 day photos... so I am going to BRING IT this week. Gotta look ok in that bathing suit for vacation in a week too ...

16 pounds since January....


So, it is weigh in day and I was happy to see another 3.5 pounds of goo gone! What a nice feeling! Only 4 more pounds to go to be at my "pre-med" weight... yeah me!!

OK, so last night was tough. Tough because I had a town-hall meeting to go to and I did not get home until after 9pm... and then I had to push play. It is nights like last night that I am so grateful to be doing this workout with my hubby. He made me do it when all I wanted to do was to vegge on the couch. Anyway, we pushed play and kicked some butt with the Leg and Back routine. 50 minutes of leg exercises for someone with Lupus can be brutal BUT this chick likes torture!! I can take the pain because I am used to pain... everyday ;) Finally, something beneficial from this disease.

Anyway, legs and back completed and tonight is Kenpo... which I love! Then it will be followed by two days of rest because of a work-related trip. On Saturday we will start the recovery week... then it is photo time. Man that first 30 days flew by!

Yoga X

Well we did it! All 90 minutes of the Yoga ... and I have to say that I can hardly believe how great Jeff did with the poses!! He amazed me! I was able to do them all and some of them made me say bad words when the timer seemed to be standing still... but I got through them with some serious breathing! Tonight is the dreaded legs... wish me luck!

Oh, and I should say that yesterday morning I got up and decided to take my hubby's 20 pound weights and I was able to do 8 concentration curls with the 20 pounders!!! How do you like that? I was so pleased... although Tony should get some sort of a cut on all the dumb-bells that we are buying! My hubby is going to make us a rack for them... we should have a great collection by the end of these videos! And to think that I started three weeks ago with 5 pounders... although that didn't last long because I underestimated my strength.

The weekend and my P90X

Good Monday morning! THis weekend my dear hubby and I managed to get through the Core, Cardio and the Arms and Back. THis is the last arms and back routine for a while since next week is recovery week! I can hardly believe that we are nearly done week three of the program! Weigh in is on Wednesday... I can hardly wait to see if there is a change... can't tell anymore. SOme days I think that I THINK that I am getting smaller here or there and then other days it is only my problem areas that I seem to focus on and they seem to be still as big as ever!> :-( I spoke to my sister in law who is doing the program and is two weeks ahead of me and her results are very impressive!! She has lost 10 pounds and three inches of goo around her waist... yeah Roxy!!! We will be seeing one another in two weeks because we will be heading to Florida for a couple of weeks for March break. Oh the fun... chub or no chub this girl is going to have a blast with the kids. I will FORCE myself to get into pictures with the family and I will not care which problem areas are making an appearance that day (kinda sounds like an oathe eh>!). So, tonight is the dreaded YOGA from hell... why oh why did you make that DVD 1 hour and a half Mr. Horton????

Kenpo X

Well, today I feel more sore than I have been feeling in about one week. It could be that the Prednizone is no longer in my system but...

Back to hurting to sit on the toilet! It hurts to climb stairs... hurts to walk, sit or stand. I have ordered the recovery drink and was going to start taking it as soon as it comes in but it just has not arrived yet!

Kenpo was awesome last night. Tons of sweat and some pretty unstable, non-threatening kicks coming out of this girl but... I finished it! My hubby and I also finished up the night with the Ab Ripper because we did not do it after legs last night. Tonight I am not taking my day of rest because we took an extra day last Friday.. so tonight is Core! Wish me luck!!

Ouch... my legs!!!

Well last night was definately legs... 50 minutes of leg work! My legs turned to jello and today I am still a little shakey. I have been seeing such an improvement to all my routines but this one was TOUGHer?@! Not sure why but WHAT A WORKOUT! Have I mentioned lately how good I feel once I have completed the program (S)? Well I do and I am a little excited because tonight is Kenpo and that is one of my faves.

Weigh in day today

Ok... I have to fess up - I did not manage to do Yoga last night. I fell asleep with the children and did not manage to get back up!! I slept from 7pm until 5am!! And this morning I FEEL GREAT! I have been burning the candle on both ends and I needed a night of rest... by rest I mean sleep!

SO, this morning I woke up feeling really guilty and worrying about the scale. I knew that I did not keep my diet as clean as I have been (birthday party and monthly cravings that got the better of me) and to top it off I missed a day here and there... but I stood on the scale anyway. I have to be accountable - right?! Well, much to my surprise I lost another 2.5 pounds this week and so did my Hubby!! That was a great payoff to all the sweat and hard work that we have put into the program and I am motivated and eager to continue again tonight!

I am still in awe about how much I have improved in one short week! I managed to do a lot more of the Ab exercises too last night. It is a great feeling for sure!! Tomorrow morning is weigh in time... I will update more tomorrow.

Sunday and the CardioX

OK... so today I continued right along although after volunteering at the rink all afternoon along with the stresses of the week I really had to motivate myself to get to it today. I went and got dressed in my workout gear and headed to the living room to get it on... and boy did I ever! I realize that this may be the last time that I do the lean... I was going to do the entire month following the lean program and then switch it up to the classic but I think that I will switch it next week... I just want to make sure that I am getting the most out of the program. BUT, in general I always felt that the Cardio was the easiest of all the DVDs and on a positive note I was sweating pools of sweat... so, that can't be all bad! I will weigh in on Wednesday and then I will know if it is working or not! I should whisper that I am wearing a pair of pants today that I have not had on in over one year ;-) DAMN, that feels good! I know that something is happening to my body ... I just wish that I could order where the weight leaves first!

Friday extra day of rest?

OK... so here is the deal, Friday was an unexpected extra day of rest. I was so disappointed in myself but after a bottle of red wine (it was a tough week and I know that killed my diet BUT>>>) and going to visit my father in law for his birthday I just couldn't muster up the energy at midnight to get in my core routine. Anyway, I woke up Saturday morning ready to get back into it... so at 5am my hubby and I got a glass of water and did the core routine! Wow!! I really appreciate having those glasses of water before the workout like they suggest. I mean I was even light-headed because of lack of hydration. Anyway, I pushed through and was actually really pleased with the improvement from the last time that I did it. I can't believe how quickly you can improve!! Anyway... I got back into it and I am not going to kick myself because I took the Friday too... I am just not going to have ANOTHER day of rest this week.

And the 7th day you will take as a day of rest...

... thank goodness! Last night I had hoped to find the energy to do the stretch BUT my joints are still a mess and as such I chose to take the day off... and it felt GOOD!

Tonight I am back at it though and I am excited to try it again. People are beginning to notice a change in me and that feels good. Just another 10 pounds and a few inches to get back to my pre-medication weight... I know that it is doable and I can't wait until that day. I know that I can, one DVD at a time!

Good morning... all morning I was feeling like it must be Saturday because I just feel like the first day of the weekend should be starting... it is my day of rest ;)

Last night was seriously Xtreme! It was non-stop kicking and punching pleasure. I loved it and man did I sweat! I was determined to BRING IT every night and I am really pleased with my overall experience this week. Since it was the end of the week I measured myself this morning and here are the results:

Waist: -1"
Hips: -1"
Chest: -1"
Arms: -1/2"
Thighs: -1/2"

Weight: -2 lbs

I will take it!! Thanks for following along all week and although it is my day of rest I think that I will do the stretch tonight (if my joints allow and if they don't I will take the day of rest).

Legs and Back and just for fun... Ab Ripper X

Good morning! I am just getting back from the Doctor's office... 10 pounds on the scale are GONE! Now that is since October BUT I know that in all reality it is likely since January. To top things off I also cut my blood pressure by 10 points... so that is GREAT news!

Last night I took my before pictures... that is a humbling and humiliating experience. And, NO... I will not be showing the pictures right now but in due time I might be proud to say that was once me. So you will have to wait for that. Ok, now back to business... Legs and back. OUCHIE on my knees! So much so that the doctor put me back on prednisone to try and help the swelling. Still not using it as a crutch just was trying to be conscious of when it was a good burn and when it was time to lighten up a little. I think overall I did better than I thought that I would... so that is good. As for all the chin ups - forget about it! I SUCK!! I am going to be modifying the exercise and using the tension bands to get using those muscles.

Then we finished the night with the Ab Ripper... I still did a poor job of it but what impressed me was that I did better than the last time that I did it!! I mean visibily better although it is not form-perfect and definately not pretty but I am getting better already so that is what I call MOTIVATION!

I am feeling much better today... physically. All that stretching must do a body good; however, was I ever discouraged last night! I thought that the Yoga would be somewhat easy for me as I have done Yoga in the past but I was not doing it the Tony Horton way. By the 45 minute mark when we were on the one-millionth (a little exaggeration BUT) vinyasa and downward dog I thought that I was going to die! Then it moved to balance moves which may have been easier if I had not done 45 minutes of killer Yoga! Needless to say I made it though but it was not a pretty sight. I can't wait to build the muscles and core strength to keep up with Tony and his group... I know it will happen! Anyway, tonight is legs and back which I am doubtful on how I am going to do. I am suffering from a slight flare-up in my left knee so I may have to modify some of the exercises. No worries, I have no plans to throw in the towel... I am going to BRING IT and tell you all about it tomorrow.
